The growing interest in strengthening corporate governance internationally is due to the many cases of corporate abuse by public listed companies such as Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI), Credit Lyonnais Bank, Barings Bank, Daiwa, Poly Peck, Maxwell, Sumitomo, Enron and Worldcom.
